A year and a half after Sticks’n’Sushi opened its inaugural restaurant in Wimbledon, they are now ready to launch their second London opening in Covent Garden.
Located on Henrietta Street, with an entrance also from Maiden Lane, the restaurant will be able to seat 120 guests on two floors.
The Covent Garden menu will offer the same high-quality choice as Wimbledon like salmon carpaccio with trout roe, ceviche with yellowtail, shrimp and citruspearls and hotate kataifi bites. For those less keen on fish, there is a selection of chicken, pork, beef, lamb and vegetable yakitori skewers from the charcoal grill and various Japanese salads.
Genuine materials in wood, leather and fabric compose the atmosphere of the restaurant. The style is modern straight in a timeless and cosmopolitan design. Characterized by its slim dimensions the space is provided with a longitudinal stairway in bended steel connecting ground floor with the basement several times.
The play with the spatial theme of “upstairs/downstairs” assures a vivid and immediate pulse ticking performance of acts on both floors mixing natural light, brick walls and waiters’ services from above with the operative activities from below. Strong, wooden oak bars build up the balustrade of the stairs. A large selection of Japanese inspired cocktails will be served in the sea grass colored long cocktail bar descending – and connecting – the two street levels.
The restaurant is designed by Diener & Diener Architects, who also planned the Wimbledon restaurant as well as all Sticks’n’Sushi restaurants in Copenhagen. All design concepts are different to one another, which give the brand a unique, individual aura.
CEO Kim Rahbek says: “We came to Wimbledon as an unknown with big dreams and were made very welcome by the locals. We have nerves, but are courageous in our team and what we do, so we can only hope to enjoy the same excitement for our new central location.”
