The heat of the summer has taken it’s hold of the studios at LCF, and the past few weeks have been filled with intensive studio work and mentoring sessions.
Being a Fashion Fringe Finalist has really taught me such valuable information about the industry that I am so blessed to have had the opportunity to learn.
A session with DHL courier service gave vital information about how to solve matters with export and import, regulations related to Non-EU countries, sampling duty free and so on. As this is a part of the business that generates large costs, an efficient way to work this out is crucial. Believe it or not this is one of the most important parts of production and is imperative when it comes to materials being delivered within your production timeline and maintaining the relationships with your buyers who expect things on time!
Each day, more and more of the my collection is coming to life before my eyes, I can see it becoming a personality and I am so proud of its progress. Building a collection is a very organic process and there are many challenges that one is faced with in its evolution. I am really enjoying this moment of creating, and seeing the vision be brought to reality.
The Fashion Fringe programme, which is a definite highlight of my career, has also synchronized with the highlight of the London Olympics. There have been challenges to overcome with the increased traffic commuting between west and east. Still though, there is huge excitement in the air that is accentuating this experience for me and we are cheering for our heroes on the field.
It’s actually quite interesting, as I know that the Olympics are going on around me but to be honest I cant give them too much of my attention with this extraordinary project happening, it actually feels quite surreal, like a dream happening around me.
London Fashion Week is getting closer, and we are working all that we can to bring a show worth remembering!
