Presenting at Somerset House on the closing day of London Fashion Week, Haizhen Wang’s debut solo show since being named Fashion Fringe winner was nothing short of impressive. Offering an array of beautiful pieces that stayed true to the Wang aesthetic, his AW13 collection married architecture with fashion and style with sophistication. Using again a dark colour palette of predominantly black, white and grey, his vision was a futuristic one that, combined with the hair, tribal make-up and visors worn by the models, was a true flirt with the fierce.
In a series of pieces that were a clear adaption and evolution from his last, dynamic draping, structured silhouettes and layers all appeared and fit the industrial soundtrack perfectly. Yet another confident and striking take on femininity, Haizhen Wang’s AW13 collection was impressively innovative, sharply cut and a fitting uniform for the future’s finest.
