Caught on Camera: The Look Book Shoot

Fashion Fringe - Look book shoot AOFMThrow three Finalists into a room with hair stylists and make-up artists, three models and a photographer, and you really see a collection come to life. With a minimum of 36 looks to shoot in just one afternoon, the Academy of Freelance Make-up (AOFM) Soho studio was transformed into a hive of hustle and bustle earlier this week, hosting the Fashion Fringe look book shoot.

Photographer Zoe Barling was behind the lens, capturing the Fashion Fringe designers’ work for her fifth year running, and couldn’t help but comment on not only how smoothly the day was running, but how organised the designers were. “The [composition of the] model isn’t too complicated either,” she remarked. “It’s just really all about the clothes.” With the steady rotation of garments being shot and models being styled and dressed, you could see she not only knew what she was doing, but that she was absolutely right.

“They all had a strong idea of what they wanted,” commented hair stylist Kayleigh de Vries, from Craig Chapman Hair Design. “With these three, I like how their hair choice is disheveled rather than too formed.” Along with Kayleigh, make-up artists Kelly Mitchell and Michelle Webb of AOFM were continuously touching up the models for the designers throughout the day. “It’s working really well,” Michelle said, “and it’s good to see that they’re all working together in the same studio.”

AOFM Fashion Fringe look book shootThe renowned make-up academy, AOFM, who offer graduates unrivaled industry opportunities, not only hosted the look book shoot this year, but have signed up to support the whole Fashion Fringe platform as their latest sponsor; a relationship that will see AOFM artists create no fewer than 36 looks backstage on 18th September at the final show (the largest backstage at London Fashion Week).

After a busy but productive day, the garments, combined with professional hair and make-up, were transformed into a vision. With three collections shot, the look book ready, and less than two weeks to the London Fashion Week show, the countdown really begins…
