We seem to have had a very busy time at Fashion Fringe in the last few weeks but I am not complaining. They have been stimulating and enjoyable…
VOGUE FASHION’S NIGHT OUT
Let’s start with Vogue Fashion’s Night Out, where a selection of our past winners showcased looks on live models in the Canteen Pop-Up restaurant in the market building at the heart of Covent Garden’s Piazza. While we organised our own Pop-Up Shop, just around the corner, in a perfect little Georgian House – 7 Henrietta Street.
Our ‘Pop Up’ people were the incredibly … read more >

Fashion Fringe Newsletter April 2011
Wednesday, May 25th, 2011Entering our eighth year of Fashion Fringe we are feeling in good shape.
In February we had nine Fashion Fringe alumni showing in London Fashion Week, in addition to our winners Basso & Brooke, Erdem, Aminaka Wilmont, Eun Jeong, JENA.THEO and Corrie Nielsen.
It is a tough world out there and we are doing what we are because we believe that there is strong fashion design talent everywhere in need of real help and support. At the end of this newsletter is an unsolicited letter from a Fashion Fringe Finalist which seems to us … read more >
Fashion Fringe Newsletter January 2011
Wednesday, May 25th, 2011At the beginning of 2011 I want to share with you all a letter I received just before Christmas from one of our finalists. It read:
“I have been finding it hard to find the right words to express my gratitude to you, for the amazing opportunity you have given me. Fashion Fringe has been an incredible turning point in my career.

Fashion Fringe at Covent Garden Newsletter October 2010
Monday, October 11th, 2010We knew that Fashion Fringe at Covent Garden 2010 had to be special. After all, as our Chair, John Galliano was taking part in London Fashion Week for the first time since he left London for Paris 18 years ago – although still a regular ‘unofficial’ visitor to the city he continues to love. So, we had to make an effort to celebrate the event. Balloons, lots of shine, a pink carpet and a great disco with world-renowned Jeremy Healy – close friend and music expert who puts it all together for John’s shows – spinning for our after party. … read more >
Fashion Fringe at Covent Garden Newsletter – 2nd August 2010
Monday, August 2nd, 2010It seems a long time ago but the memory certainly hasn’t faded. The night when we hosted John Galliano in London in his first public appearance here as the Chair of Fashion Fringe at Covent Garden. We were all very proud and happy, justifiably too, I think. There has been so much talk about getting John back in order to boost the profile of London Fashion Week internationally but we were pleased that John responded to our simple request: come back to London in order to give hope to our young designers in these difficult times.
It seemed especially poignant … read more >

Saturday, August 1st, 2009The dead end days of August, when warm seas and velvet nights beckon, and work is put on hold. Not with Fashion Fringe at Covent Garden, however, our four Finalists are hard at it in their studios provided in Curtain Road by the London College of Fashion. Under the watchful eye of the technical experts and with the guidance of Professor Roy Peach, Dean of MA Fashion and Georgina Carr at the LCF and Angela Quaintrell our mentor. They are well on the way to putting the finishing touch to the designs that will be featured in the Fashion Fringe … read more >
Fashion Fringe at Covent Garden Newsletter
Sunday, February 1st, 2009HAPPY NEW YEAR
Are things really becoming scary, or are we all (including multi-million dollar fashion empires) scaring ourselves? Difficult to say but there does seem to be a collective hysteria sweeping through the fashion world and it will surely do nothing but harm in the long term – especially, perhaps, to young British designers, many of whom are already having difficulty in delivering orders because they do not have the money for production. But, to more positive things – or, tongue in cheek, how Fashion Fringe at Covent Garden can make the world a happier and more hopeful place! … read more >
