Corrie Nielsen

Corrie was selected as a the winner of Fashion Fringe at Covent Garden 2010 for ”the many ideas shown on the runway at the finalist show and within her sketch books.’.  She was also commended for her creative use of historic sources within her work that was inspired by James Gillray and George Cruikshank, illustrators from the 18th century who mocked the French and English aristocrats, the illustrations portrayed the extra ordinary vitality, preposterous extravagance, irrelevant attitude and vulgarity of British and French social, political and royal behaviours.

After the show the party started whilst John Galliano, being the only judge, selected the winner – Corrie Nielsen – who recieved the diamond studded award created by Jessica McCormack - to a rapturous applause and said “I am totally overwhelmed. This is the best thing that has ever happened to me and I can’t wait to get my business up and running and make beautiful clothes.”
